Action on behalf of justice and participation in the transformation of the world fully appear to us as a constitutive dimension of the preaching of the Gospel, or, in other words, of the Church’s mission for the redemption of the human race and its liberation from every oppressive situation”…. Justice in the World, 1971 Synod of Bishops

Our next meeting will be held at the Meeting Room at Waitara Catholic Parish on Saturday, October 9th, 2010, from 1.00pm – 3.00pm.

Holy Family Social Justice team at the Art Show

In March this year, the Holy Family Social Justice team were determined to educate the public about the importance of choosing Fair Trade. Our Social Justice Club, made up of school students, did a marvellous job making colourful posters to decorate the stall. We also displayed brochures and posters from Fair Trade Australia, gave out samples of Fair Trade tea, the students ran a quiz with fair trade chocolate as a prize, a raffle of delicious fair trade products was on offer and passers by were encouraged to sign a petition to stop cocoa production using child labour. Our Gourmet stall sold Fair Trade Coffee, and our café made tea and coffee with fair trade products, including fair trade sugar. The team certainly got the message across – choose Fair trade!
