Our Speaker: The Hon. Peter Anderson Am, BA (PolStud) – Monash, FAIPOL, MAICD, RSecP *

After leaving Sydney Boys High School at the end of 1964 and following two years in the NSW Public Service, Peter Anderson commenced an association with policing that has continued for more than 40 years, including a 10-year career within the NSW Police Force, largely as a Police Prosecutor, before being elected to the NSW Parliament in 1978.

Between 1981 and 1988 he was Minister for Police and Emergency Services, before taking on a range of other senior portfolios including Youth and Community Affairs, Aboriginal Affairs and Health. From 1989 to 1994 he served as Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services.

In September 2014 he was appointed as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Sydney, School of Social Sciences and Psychology. From December, 2005 until December, 2013 he was the Director and a Professor of the Centre for Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism at Macquarie University. He was a board member of and has served as Chairman of the Council for Asian Terrorism Research (CATR).

He is a member of the Board of the Australasian Council of Security Professionals (ACSP) and a Member of the Security Professionals’ Registry – Australasia. In 2014 he became a Registered Security Professional.

He is the Chairman of the Board of Penrith Performing and Visual Arts Ltd (PP&VA) which incorporates the Penrith Regional Gallery, Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith Conservatorium of Music and the Q Theatre. He has been a Director since 1995.

Peter Anderson has been the Executive Chairman of Peter Anderson & Co Pty Ltd since its establishment in 1995.
