Severe drought in August 2009 left pastoralist communities in north east Kenya on the verge of catastrophe. The frequency of droughts in this part of Kenya has increased considerably in recent years as a result of climate change. Christian Aid’s partner Northern Aid is working with the poorest communities in northern Kenya to monitor water levels and protect precious water supplies for people and their livestock. |

Climate change continues to threaten food security in Bangladesh, one of the poorest countries in the world, where rising sea levels and seasonal storms worry farmers. Those living along the country’s southern coast fear for their crops and livelihoods. Now the Government of Bangladesh is working with IFAD, the International Fund for Agricultural Development to provide training to farmers with the aim of introducing new techniques to beat the crisis. |
